Antipolo is one of the best-loved weekend destinations of Filipinos especially those living in Metro Manila. Known as the Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines, people often visit Antipolo Cathedral and other city churches, as well as retreat houses like Saint Michael Retreat House. Antipolo is also a popular site for indulging in nature getaways or excellent food trips as it is very accessible to metro dwellers. On your next trip to this famous capital of the province of Rizal, may I suggest a pit stop at Café Lupe Bed and Breakfast for an awe-inspiring view of the sunset in a spot overlooking the metro skyline?
Here, you can have a great night out with your besties, a relaxing staycation with family, or simply revel in the beauty of the metro at near dusk with your SO (significant other). Whether you are celebrating an event, planning a food trip, or taking some solo time, Café Lupe is one of the best places to be in the city. It is a family restaurant, an intimate bed and breakfast, party venue and KTV — a one-stop destination recommended for the entire family. Located along Sumulong Highway on the way to uptown Antipolo, Café Lupe provides an excellent spot to enjoy a casual meal. This B&B has been named after Mother Guadalupe and is known for serving Mexican and Ilonggo dishes. With its eight years’ experience in the hotel and restaurant industry, Café Lupe has already built four branches around the Philippines: Guadalupe, Antipolo, Tagaytay and Boracay.
What makes it different from other destinations in Antipolo is its ambience. The modern industrial meets boho chic look lends a casual, relaxing vibe to the restaurant. The rooms are not fancy but expect each to be neat and spacious; a fitting sanctuary for the tired soul, beckoning one to let go of all worries. The place exudes a calm and comfortable feel, similar to staying in the security of your own home. After a day trekking around the city, a hot shower in your spotless ensuite bathroom complete with toiletries is an absolute treat. Another plus, the Café Lupe staff is a group of caring men and women who are focused on providing efficient service and a meaningful experience to their guests.
Just like the quaint charm of Antipolo, Café Lupe’s friendly ambience makes you want to stay longer. Perfect for staycations with family and friends, the B&B has also played host to groups on a pilgrimage or a gallery-hopping agenda with Café Lupe as their pit stop. The property even has a small playground so kids do not get bored. Pet lovers can bring their fur babies, just make sure the
pets are sociable and not prone to yapping as this can disturb the peace of other guests. In addition to pleasant accommodations, Café Lupe has a gym and a game room. Really, there is something for everyone in the family at Café Lupe!
With their affordable menu, guests are invited to sample the crowd favorites: Salpicao (beef tenderloin cubes sautéed with garlic capsicum and mushroom); Kadyos (lentil beans with liempo chunks and jackfruit); and Beef or Chicken Tacos (your choice of soft flour tortilla or crunchy corn tortilla shell). Get a good deal with Nachos Muchos is it comes loaded with beef, spices, cheese and nachos. Satisfy your cravings with more Mexican goodies: Quesadilla (soft flour tortilla stuffed with cheddarella, bell pepper and onions, served with sour cream and tomato salsa); Burritos (soft flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans, Mexican rice, sour cream, fresh lettuce and tomato salsa); and Fajitas (served sizzling on a bed of sautéed onions, zucchini and bell pepper with sour cream,
tomato salsa and tortillas). We highly recommend the Beef Taco Sticks, the Chef ’s Special. The bestselling Beef Kansi, a classic Ilonggo dish, is cooked in annatto seeds simmered for four hours until soft, lovely and tender.
These dishes wouldn’t be complete without pairing it with drinks so do visit the cozy OneA KTV Lounge to choose from a variety of beers and cocktails. A bigger chill out venue is available at the property’s OneA Events Place, a three-storey KTV Sports Bar and Lounge. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the city view while having a one-of-a-kind dining experience provided by amateur performers and singer-wannabes. Have fun belting out songs in six KTV rooms with state-of-the- art facilities. On weekend evenings, the stage features local live bands that play well into the night and it is the best time to drop by and unwind.
Café Lupe Bed and Breakfast is an ideal weekend vacation spot — a good place to meet with friends or stay with family while exploring the city of Antipolo. It really feels like home.
